Come join Rockland Recreation for Kid's Hip Hop. Each week Cora and Sadie will teach the kids a new Tik Tok Dance as part of the warm up &  also learn hip hop! Meet the Instructors:Cora and Sadie have been dancing for the MAD Dancers since they were 2/3 years old.  Sadie's favorite type of dance is Lyrical and Cora's is Hip Hop. This program provided by Total Sports Plus will include repetition of skills in all aspects of boxing as well as fitness for strength & conditioning. This is a sport and should not be used as a self defense course. We will be doing Mitt Work this session so children should come with a set of boxing gloves.  (They do not have to be expensive)  If you can not afford the mitts then we have a few at the Rec. Join Instructor Julia Douglas for a 6-week Zumba Class!Zumba is a great form of cardio that involves slow and fast dancing (similar to interval training) that works the entire body. This will help you strengthen several muscle groups, especially your abs and back. Come give the class a try....you won't regret it! About the Instructor Julia is a former M.A.D. Dancer and fitness enthusiast. She has been teaching group-x since 2011 and is trained in Zumba and Zumba step, as well as having her 200 hr Power Yoga certification from Wicked OM yoga, and a Barre certification from Balancepoint. She is currently a vocational academic teacher at Cardinal Cushing Centers and is studying pilates. Welcome Back!!  2023-2024 Please note:   Volunteer's are needed!  Please contact the office at 781-871-1730 to volunteer.  Registration: You must register and pay on line for the day they want to attend. We are limiting the nights to 50 kids.  That may go down if we don't have enough volunteers or staff to run the teen center. Snack BarWe will have our snack bar open and the kids will have a designated area to eat.  We do not allow any food or drink in the blue room and in the gym.  Bathrooms We are only allowing one person at a time in the bathrooms.  Any more than that the child will be asked to leave the bathroom.  If they do not then the staff has the right to ask them to leave.  GymWe will be playing organized games in the gym and have tournaments.  Teens may only have water in the gym. Come join Total Sports Plus for this 3-week beginners carpentry class.Each carpenter will select if they want to build a - Wooden wall decal/sign.  - A personalized lock box small 10”x10”.  During the first week, they will be learning the basics of how to use tools safely and how to measure! Then we will begin building! Carpenters will give measurements for the instructor to cut and will learn how to glue and screw pieces together! Once the piece is constructed we will start our paint finishing with 5 different colors to choose from! Welcome Back!!  2023-2024 Please note:   Volunteer's are needed!  Please contact the office at 781-871-1730 to volunteer.  Registration: You must register and pay on line for the day they want to attend. We are limiting the nights to 50 kids.  That may go down if we don't have enough volunteers or staff to run the teen center. Snack BarWe will have our snack bar open and the kids will have a designated area to eat.  We do not allow any food or drink in the blue room and in the gym.  Bathrooms We are only allowing one person at a time in the bathrooms.  Any more than that the child will be asked to leave the bathroom.  If they do not then the staff has the right to ask them to leave.  GymWe will be playing organized games in the gym and have tournaments.  Teens may only have water in the gym. Come join Rockland Recreation and Jen from The Felted Bee to make a Cardinal from wool using the technique of needle felting!In this beginner class you will learn the basics of needle felting.We will learn safety, tips and tricks and you will go home with a little needle felted leprechaun and the beginner knowledge of needle felting.Needle felting is a technique of using a very sharp, barbed needle to repeatedly jab into the wool to create felt. The wool becomes tangled and compressed by the needle to create various three dimensional forms. About the instructorJennifer McCarthy owns and operates The Felted Bee, a small felting studio in Rockland, MA. Jennifer has a background in painting, sculpture and art education. Welcome Back!!  2023-2024 Please note:   Volunteer's are needed!  Please contact the office at 781-871-1730 to volunteer.  Registration: You must register and pay on line for the day they want to attend. We are limiting the nights to 50 kids.  That may go down if we don't have enough volunteers or staff to run the teen center. Snack BarWe will have our snack bar open and the kids will have a designated area to eat.  We do not allow any food or drink in the blue room and in the gym.  Bathrooms We are only allowing one person at a time in the bathrooms.  Any more than that the child will be asked to leave the bathroom.  If they do not then the staff has the right to ask them to leave.  GymWe will be playing organized games in the gym and have tournaments.  Teens may only have water in the gym. Come join Rockland Recreation for Kid's Hip Hop. Each week Cora and Sadie will teach the kids a new Tik Tok Dance as part of the warm up &  also learn hip hop! Meet the Instructors:Cora and Sadie have been dancing for the MAD Dancers since they were 2/3 years old.  Sadie's favorite type of dance is Lyrical and Cora's is Hip Hop. This program provided by Total Sports Plus will include repetition of skills in all aspects of boxing as well as fitness for strength & conditioning. This is a sport and should not be used as a self defense course. We will be doing Mitt Work this session so children should come with a set of boxing gloves.  (They do not have to be expensive)  If you can not afford the mitts then we have a few at the Rec. Come join Total Sports Plus for this 3-week beginners carpentry class.Each carpenter will select if they want to build a - Wooden wall decal/sign.  - A personalized lock box small 10”x10”.  During the first week, they will be learning the basics of how to use tools safely and how to measure! Then we will begin building! Carpenters will give measurements for the instructor to cut and will learn how to glue and screw pieces together! Once the piece is constructed we will start our paint finishing with 5 different colors to choose from! Welcome Back!!  2023-2024 Please note:   Volunteer's are needed!  Please contact the office at 781-871-1730 to volunteer.  Registration: You must register and pay on line for the day they want to attend. We are limiting the nights to 50 kids.  That may go down if we don't have enough volunteers or staff to run the teen center. Snack BarWe will have our snack bar open and the kids will have a designated area to eat.  We do not allow any food or drink in the blue room and in the gym.  Bathrooms We are only allowing one person at a time in the bathrooms.  Any more than that the child will be asked to leave the bathroom.  If they do not then the staff has the right to ask them to leave.  GymWe will be playing organized games in the gym and have tournaments.  Teens may only have water in the gym.
