South Shore Adventures is an outdoor, educational, and adventure program offered to Rockland youth through a collaboration between the Rockland Recreation Department and the North and South Rivers Watershed Association (NSRWA).
This is a 4 day program running Monday through Thursday (rain date on Friday) from 9:00am to 12:00pm. Each event will consist of providing a fun and adventure based experience to Rockland youth between the ages of 10-13. Each event will encourage outdoor stewardship and education, and an appreciation for the local communities.
Program includes two experienced guides, including a certified American Red Cross Lifeguard and Wilderness First Responder.
DATES: June 26-29
TIME: 9:00-12:00 (Monday-Thursday, rain date on friday)
COST: $150.00 (weekly)
LOCATION: Various Locations

Parents/guardians will drop-off and pick-up their youth at a predetermined location for each day.
Join us as we get outside and explore places in and around our community, all while having fun, staying safe, and experiencing something new. No previous kayaking or fishing experience necessary.
Drop-off, meet, and pick-up at the following locations:
Monday: Fishing at Jacobs Pond Conservation Land in Norwell
Tuesday: Kayaking at Jacobs Pond in Norwell
Wednesday: Survival Shelter Building, Geocaching and Wildlife Tracking at Twin Ponds Trail System in Rockland
Thursday: Forest and Wetland Ecology and Capture the flag at Hartsuff Park in Rockland

What to bring:
- Please put all items in a back pack
- Plenty of water with their name on it
- Bug Spray (Apply prior to arrival and we will reapply as needed)
- Sunscreen (Apply prior to arrival and we will reapply as needed)
- Wearing a hat will keep the sun off your head
- Please wear closed toe shoes (bring water shoes for Kayaking)
- Light Snack
- Hand Sanitizer
- They will be carrying out any trash they bring in!
Please drop your child with the instructor at the location for that day.
The North and South Rivers Watershed Association, Inc. (NSRWA) is a non-profit grassroots environmental organization located on the South Shore of Massachusetts dedicated to protecting our waters. The NSRWA was founded in 1970 and has grown to over 1,900 members today, comprised of individuals, families, businesses, and other environmentally-concerned organizations.
If your child is not feeling well or is exhibiting any of the following symptoms please keep them home.
- a fever
- a cough
- sore throat
- fast breathing
- shaking with chills
- muscle pain
- a loss of taste or smell
Registration & Refund Information
Registration: Student is only considered registered (and spot reserved) in a program once payment is received. Online registration & payment is the quickest and easiest way to secure a spot in a program. Registration is also accepted in our office and by mail on a first-come first-served basis.
Refunds: There will be a $10 processing fee for all refunds/credits and all requests must be made at least 5 business days prior to the start of the program. All credits applied to accounts will be good up to one year and can be used for any Rockland Recreation program.
Age Requirement: Participants must be the minimum age for the program or turn that age within the first week of the program.
Confirmations: Please keep a record of your registration. Confirmations are emailed as soon as your registration is processed; no further confirmations or reminders are provided.
We ensure the safety of all participants in our programs. Therefore we hold the right to decline/remove any child from any program provided that the child is: 1)Potentially putting themselves at risk of injury, 2) Potentially putting others at risk of injury through their actions, or 3) Blatantly disregarding proper safety rules as set forth by the instructor of the program.
