**NEW*** Coach Kara Penney will be facilitating our Runners Club.
Kara is a former Rockland High School three sport student athlete, focusing predominantly on Track and field. She is a Westfield State graduate with a degree in History and secondary education. While at Westfield she was a three season cross country and track and field runner. Kara teaches at Rockland High School and have been a volunteer coach for the Rockland High School cross country and Track and Field teams.
Team Captain HS and College, Qualified for State and Regional tournaments in multiple running events, Multiple League Champion in HS and College.
This Club meets on Wednesdays for 6 weeks. The Group will meet behind Memorial Park.
This program will introduce dynamic and static stretching to teach athletes how to take care of their bodies. As well as introduce running techniques to help improve athletes speed, agility and endurance. This is a great opportunity for kids to get active and move, as well as get in shape and ready for whatever fall sport they will be participating in! (mileage will get up to 10-20 miles a week)
If your child is not feeling well or is exhibiting any of the following symptoms please keep them home.
- a fever
- a cough
- sore throat
- fast breathing
- shaking with chills
- muscle pain
- a loss of taste or smell
Wearing of Face Masks:
Face masks are required to participate in the program.
Please drop your child with the coach. You will need to make sure you see the coach before you leave. You will be asked a series of questions about your child before they get out of the car. This is information will not be shared unless there has been a confirmed case of COVID -19. At that point any information we collect will be shared with the health agent and she will share it with the state.
We will be doing a rolling pick up for the children. We ask that you stay in your car and let your child come to you.
What To Bring:
- Plenty of water in a bottles marked with their name.
- Apply sunscreen & bug spray
- Small bottle of hand sanitizer
- A towel to wipe their face
- Please put every thing in a back pack so that we can keep the children's items separate

Registration & Refund Information
Registration: Student is only considered registered (and spot reserved) in a program once payment is received. Online registration & payment is the quickest and easiest way to secure a spot in a program. Registration is also accepted in our office and by mail on a first-come first-served basis.
Refunds: There will be a $10 processing fee for all refunds/credits and all requests must be made at least 5 business days prior to the start of the program. All credits applied to accounts will be good up to one year and can be used for any Rockland Recreation program.
Age Requirement: Participants must be the minimum age for the program or turn that age within the first week of the program.
Confirmations: Please keep a record of your registration. Confirmations are emailed as soon as your registration is processed; no further confirmations or reminders are provided.
We ensure the safety of all participants in our programs. Therefore we hold the right to decline/remove any child from any program provided that the child is: 1)Potentially putting themselves at risk of injury, 2) Potentially putting others at risk of injury through their actions, or 3) Blatantly disregarding proper safety rules as set forth by the instructor of the program.
